Provide meaningful mental health support to people facing suicidal crisis.

Problem

A mental health app to help suicidal people had already been developed but was obsolete, and the number of downloads was constantly diminishing.

Ten people commit suicide in Canada every day. Even if these figures are decreasing, the situation remains worrisome. This is what prompted Dr. Réal Labelle to create, with the Axel Center, a tool to inform, equip and protect the suicidal patient outside the therapist’s office.

The purpose of the existing mental health app was clear, but the user experience was not intuitive and did not meet the expectations of the targeted people. The tool was therefore abandoned by users.

Solution

We built an efficient mental health app that works as a mental health support digital tool, to accompany and help people facing suicidal crisis.

For a whole day, our team met with mental health professionals to redefine and restructure the existing application. We made the choice to start on a completely new model to avoid being influenced by the previous version of the application.

During the workshop, we were able to extract all the expected objectives to offer the best user experience thanks to powerful features.

“The real challenge of this application has been to completely rethink the existing user journey to allow people in suicidal crisis to be able to get help very quickly and in the most intuitive way, especially in emergency situations.”

iBrace

iBrace

Precise body scanner app to increase the productivity levels of medical professionals.

Problem

The client wanted to market custom orthotics using a body scanner app that was both efficient and financially accessible.

The client wanted to develop a tool for health partners to easily digitize joints.

The goal was to find a less expensive and more accessible alternative to scanning booths while remaining easy to use for partners.

The 3D renderings had to be precise enough to be directly transmitted to the production team to make custom orthotics.

scan-3d-orthese-ibrace

Solution

We have developed a body scanner app for iPad based on the technology of Occipital’s structure sensor. This tool can generate accurate measurement files of different parts of the body and joints.

The 3D Structure Sensor scanner has allowed us to develop an intuitive, efficient and flexible application at a lower cost. The application, developed initially to scan joints, has evolved and now allows the scanning of multiple body parts (spine, plexus …).

The files generated by the application perfectly transcribe the scanned body part. The production team thus gains in precision, and therefore in productivity, when producing orthoses.

“The challenge for iBrace has been to develop a tablet application that can be adapted with the 3D Structure Sensor SDK scanner. It was necessary to make this tool very powerful and easy to use for health professionals. As of today, this application brings a real gain of productivity thanks to its precision.”

+Fort

+Fort

Anti bullying app to accompany and empower youngsters victim of bullying.

Problem

The East of Montreal University Research Center had already developed a Mental health app to help young victims of bullying, but the tool was not intuitive enough or easy to use.

CIUSSS researchers had already developed an anti bullying app to help bullied children and teenagers. The tool seemed particularly suitable for young victims who did not dare to talk to an adult.

However, this anti bullying app was too complicated to use, with heavy forms and a wide range of features that tainted the user experience. In addition, there were many crashes and bugs when browsing the application, a sign of hasty development.

Solution

We have developed a brand-new native mental health app that is easier to use. We only kept the key features and implemented push notifications to set reminders and alerts to engage users better.

The application has been developed in line with the objectives set during the co-creation workshop. In addition, features have been reduced to the essentials to make the application more intuitive and effective.

Young people use high-performance mobile applications every day, and we had to offer a tool that lived up to the expectations of this very demanding audience in order to maximize the support the application provides.

The development was done according to the specification document, and the test phase ensured app performance and quality.

Finally, key features have been added to maximize the app efficiency and the user experience.

“The Sidekick team was open and interested in our project and very respectful of our opinions.
They also showed a lot of patience and did not hesitate to explain all the technical aspects that escaped us. Brainstorming together allowed us to go even further!”

Interact Mobility

Interact Mobility

Custom enterprise mobility management tool embedded in Interact workstation software

Problem

The company had an enterprise mobility management software for desktop performance tracking for Windows PC, and they wanted to replicate this solution for new mobile smartphone devices, both iOS and Android.

The solution developed by InterAct Software is a mdm app that collects, integrates and analyzes performance, inventory, consumption and usage data for all PC workstations on Interact’s network. However, this solution was not adapted to the new mobile devices, which are more and more present within companies.

This new mobile fleet was therefore not analyzed, and technical failures could not be anticipated on this type of device.

interact-software-solution
interact-software-logiciel

Solution

We have developed an enterprise mobility management platform adapted to the technical needs of mobile workstations management. This tool makes it possible to quickly visualize all the data specific to a device and to anticipate potential failures.

We first analyzed the already deployed solution for PC desktop management workstations to understand the initial software build and needs.

The work involved collecting data specifically harvested and adapted to mobile devices. Our team built the complete system, from the server side logic (databases, APIs, data analysis) to the native iOS and Android apps which run on the devices. The apps run in the background in order to regularly collect relevant information. We also developed a web dashboard to view all the collected data in an easy to interpret fashion, with authentication, graphs, maps, and various administration features.

This was a difficult project since moving this solution from PC desktops to mobile devices created a new set of challenges. In particular, we needed to make sure the mdm apps did not use too much battery as they collect and analyse device data in the background, which is not an issue on desktop PCs which are plugged in. We successfully adjusted various algorithms and processes to use very little battery, and still collect relevant information in a way that would not interfere with the user.

“We have developed a real solution, based on an existing but outdated PC workstation software model, for mobile devices. We have developed an internal analysis tool to meet existing technology needs. The teams now have a complete grip on the fleet of mobile devices, to which they did not have access before.”

Car2Go Snow

Car2Go Snow

Using Info-Neige MTL and a vehicle tracking solution to power a car fleet management software.

Problem

Car2Go's car fleet in Montreal was difficult to manage during the city's snow removal operations. The number of vehicles towed was a waste of time and money for the company.

Car2Go owns more than 500 vehicles in Montreal. This large fleet, spread across the city, was difficult to manage during snow removal operations in every borough of the city.

The company did not have the tools to manage its fleet in a simple and efficient way and thus avoid waves of towing.

The immobilized vehicles were no longer in service, which represented a shortfall for the company, in addition to impound fees.

Solution

We have developed a web platform working as a car fleet management software that integrates our INFO-Neige MTL solution. The system crosses the city of Montreal's open data with the car2go vehicle tracking solution to anticipate the towing of cars.

This solution takes the form of a website that, through car2go vehicle tracking solution, allows quick identification of cars parked in streets where snow removal operations are planned and alerts the Car2Go team.

The system therefore makes it possible to view the vehicles in real time and to receive notifications related to their parking. This solution is therefore an essential tool that the company can easily integrate into its car fleet management software.

“The Car2Go Snow project is proof that the INFO-Neige solution, which we have developed internally, is able to adapt to different media and needs. Much more than a simple consumer mobile application, it is also an adaptable technology platform that meets the needs of companies impacted economically by snow removal operations.”

Limocar

Limocar

Engage customers and facilitate their journey thanks to a bus booking app.

Problem

Limocar wanted to take a digital turn, offering its bus passengers the possibility of booking tickets elsewhere than in partner shops or on their website.

With more than 200 weekly departures on its bus route between Montreal and Sherbrooke, Limocar wanted to boost its services and offer its passengers a faster way to book tickets, and this directly on a cell phone.

The team’s idea was to develop a bus booking app, but they did not know how to do it. The steps seemed complex and they did not know all the technical aspects to take into account.

They decided to use our expertise to provide answers to their questions.

Solution

We have defined a brand new application, with a new user interface, prioritizing certain features with clear objectives defined during the co-creation workshop.

Our team and that of Limocar met to carry out a co-creation workshop. For a whole day, we brainstormed and structured their project in order to identify needs and final objectives.

As a first step, we built an interactive bus booking app. Seeing the potential of a mobile app, we then added new features to maintain customer satisfaction, such as a bus tracking solution.

At the end of the workshop, the mobile application was built and modeled. We had all the elements to develop a functional prototype to test the user experience.

“Sidekick’s experts have been able to guide us in our digital strategy, taking into account all factors, to ensure the best user experience for our customers. During the workshop, everyone was able to integrate their skills for the benefit of the project, which allowed us to push the project further.”

You MaWo – 3D scanner app by occipital structure sensor

You MaWo

Facial 3D scanner app powered by Occipital’s structure sensor for custom glasses.

Problem

The customer wanted to improve its 3D software powered by Occipital’s structure sensor to optimize its custom glasses offer. The tool previously used did not generate directly exploitable 3D files, forcing the production team to adjust the files.

You Mawo used a 3D scanner app to offer its customers a range of custom glasses. This tool allowed opticians to perform a 3D scan of the client’s face.

The file obtained was not directly exploitable and had to be retouched by the production team. The process was slow, which was a significant cost for the company.

The goal was to optimize the productivity of the production team so they did not have to adjust the file produced by the optician.

You-mawo-application-ipad
structure-sensor-3d-scan-sidekick
You-mawo-lunettes-sur-mesure

Solution

We have developed a powerful 3D scanner app that works with Occipital’s Structure Sensor. The generated files are now ready to use for the production team.

We have developed a new iPad application to improve the rendering of the existing 3D scanner in order to record the face of each customer in a more relevant way. This provides production teams with a complete, ready-to-use file to optimize their process.

With new algorithms and facial recognition, we have implemented an intelligent alignment system. The app’s superpositioning of photos allows the recognition of eyes, chin and ears. Thus, the final 3D rendering is perfectly aligned and straight.

After this first step, we developed augmented reality in order to animate the customer’s product catalog. Thanks to the camera lens, catalog images come to life as video and eyewear models are modeled in 3D for ever-richer and more immersive online shopping.

“The You MaWo iPad app clearly captures the ease of use of powerful technology tools. With an application, opticians can scan the faces of their customers with ease. The challenge of the application was to provide a simple and powerful use of the 3D Structure Sensor SDK scanner, and I think we did it well!”
